Working with video - impossible!! AVID, PLEASE READ
Since my upgrade to PT10 I can't work with video anymore. Sessions, that worked fine on PT9 are completely unresponsive on PT10.
Regardless of the video-codec, I tried h264, PhotoJPEG, DVCPro, ProRes. When I deactivate the video track, everything runs smoothly. As soon, as it is activated, PT is completey laggy, and it is impossible to edit like that. Deleted preferences, and tried this on two different MacPros, both running OSX 10.7.3. This is not acceptable, and it looks like I have to go back to PT9. This is a HUGE problem! Please help.

PT 10 is not compatible with 10.7.3....
Only the latest version PT 10 HD is compatible with 10.7.3. Downgrade to 10.7.2 and try again. |

Re: Working with video - impossible!! AVID, PLEASE READ
I am running PT 10.0.1 and Lion 10.7.2 with video every day, I have noticed the frame rate is not quite as smooth as it was in 9 but it is not making PT lag at all for me, so I am not experiencing your issues, and yes 10.7.3 is not supported by Avid yet so that might be your issue. I am working with Apple pro res and h264 720p. Perhaps try playing your video off a different hard drive than your audio session and see if that helps if your not already. I have video and audio playing off of a 2 terabyte internal drive, not my system drive, in my 8 core 2008 Mac Pro with 16 gigs of ram.

I have four internal hdds, one system drive, one for audio, one for video, one spare. I really hope, that with the upcoming upgrade to 10.1.1 (or 10.0.2, whatever it's going to be called) compatibility with 10.7.3 will be approved, and that this was the problem. Otherwise I guess I'll have to wipe my system drive and start with 10.6.8 from scratch again.

Re: Working with video - impossible!! AVID, PLEASE READ
Okay, from a 1080p ProRes 422 (Proxy) with 10 embedded audio-tracks I converted a 720x576 ProRes 422 (Proxy) with no audio tracks.
Problem is still the same. System Usage when playing the session ist nearly zero, and still it lags like hell, as if there were no CPU or RAM available anymore.
