Pro Tools Video Engine keeps crashing....no idea how to fix it!

Hi all,

I'm running Pro Tools 2021.10 (and 2021.7 before, with the same problem) on a Mac Mini 2,3 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 with Catalina 10.15.7.

Last week it installed a security update and since that day the video engine in pro tools is broken. Whenever I try to enable it, it crashes. I can use pro tools and everything works, except for the video engine. It won't start, no matter what.

I've tried to delete the AvidVideoEngine folder, re-installed Pro Tools, updated from 2021.7 to 2021.10, re-installed the Avid codec packs, but nothing helps.

Does anyone else have the same problem? Really annoying, can't do sound design projects in Pro Tools at the moment.

What video card. Have the latest drivers?

It's the built-in graphics card (Intel HD4000 I believe). If I go to Intel's website for drivers, it redirects me to the Apple website.

The latest update I find there is the security update that may have caused the problem in the first place, because I found this as one of the things that were updated, see below.

Nobody has the same problem?

My Avid video engine refused to work until I installed a qualified Nvidia card, now it works perfectly. Food for thought.

Thanks guys, I've deleted the Preferences, but did that manually, if I look at that screenshot, I forgot a few :)

So I'll try that first...

Any other ideas maybe?

And does anyone know how fast Avid replies to a support ticket? I've been waiting for 6 days now and am forced to use Adobe Audition for projects with video since Pro Tools is the only thing that has problems with running video on my computer.

Ok, didn't fix the problem, but found a workaround by using Video Sync and running the video from there, syncing it with Pro Tools:

Really easy and great piece of software, so if anyone runs into similar problems, try this option...

Hi, does Video Sync 5 is free?
and is it for Windows too?

No and no I'm afraid... Mac only and not free!
