Pro Tools AAX Plug-ins presets
I recently got a new Macbook Pro M2 Max. Ventura 13.4.1. Avid Omni HD Native. I did a clean install of Pro Tools 2023.3 and all plug-ins I use. I opened session using Rosetta 2. All of my plug-ins show up, but none of the presets are available. The presets exist in their respective folders on the computer, but the plug-ins can't seem to access them. I have even tried to save settings to try and direct the plug-in to the proper preset folder to no avail - I get an "unable to locate settings folder" error. Examples of these instances are with Slapper 2 and the Avid Complete Bundle (pro subharmonic, mod delay III, etc) - just to give a couple of examples.
Anyone come across this? Is it a compatibility issue with the M2 Max? It's driving me crazy. |

Re: Pro Tools AAX Plug-ins presets
I am wondering if my presets might be in the wrong folder or location?

Re: Pro Tools AAX Plug-ins presets
Default location for plugin presets is:
homefolder - documents - pro tools - plugin name folder. Permissions error? I don't know.

Re: Pro Tools AAX Plug-ins presets
SOLVED:
When I set up the computer I enabled iCloud syncing. That was a mistake. I don't know if it is a glitch with Ventura, but as a result it created all of these empty Document folder shortcuts that would appear in the sidebar upon startup and somehow made the original Documents folder invisible. So when in Pro-tools and trying to access the presets, the plug-ins were trying to find the presets and couldn't find them because they weren't in the OG documents folder. When I downloaded my plug-ins, a folder was created "Documents - my computer" When I realized this I tried to rename it to "Documents" and found the folder already existed though I couldn't find it anywhere on my computer. When I went to the cloud and grabbed the backup of the Documents folder and tried to place it on my computer, that is when I found that an the OG Documents folder existed but was invisible. Long story short - I killed icloud syncing and disable that entirely. Was able to restore the Documents folder and move everything that belonged there from the Documents folder that was created when downloading the plug-ins. Restarted my computer, booted up pro tools, and everything was there and working as it should. What a pain in the ass! |

Re: Pro Tools AAX Plug-ins presets
PlaneOnTime, I think I am in the exact same spot you were in. I have stopped iCloud sync, but I hope you can let me know how you did the next step:
"Was able to restore the Documents folder and move everything that belonged there from the Documents folder that was created when downloading the plug-ins." Thanks in advance! Caleb |

Re: Pro Tools AAX Plug-ins presets
PlaneOnTime, never mind, I got the plug-in settings back.
I just needed to turn iCloud back on, then uncheck the documents and desktop option, and the original documents folder returned. Then I clicked the download button on the "Pro Tools" folder which includes the folder "Plug-in Settings." |
