slave or master
I have searched the duc on this subject and I have found conflicting opinions. The question is: If you have two hard drives and a cdrom should the hard drives be master and slave on the primary controller with the cdrom on the secondary as master or should the hard drives be masters on the primary and secondary controllers and slave the cdrom to one of the hard drives? What is the best for performance?
Thanks Mike |

Re: slave or master
here's what a buddy of mine conferenced and came up with...
I'd go ahead and put both HDs on the same IDE cable as master and slave if you're not going to extensively use both HDs simultaneously. Even if you separated them, there would be little performance gain if any. For that setup, go for HDs on cable one, CD drive on cable two. cheers... ------------------ Сgî‡å£ Wàvèƒôrm

Re: slave or master
Thanks to DigitalWaveform for the response. I tried it both ways and performance was better with the drives on seperate controllers.
