Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave
I am so glad it was a bad Crest. I really like the speed I am seeing. The crashes were a little anoying.

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave
I know, right.. few months ago I was seeing random kernel panics but it appears I had a fuse going bad and don't have UPS here... it all sorted itself out when the fuse eventually needed to be replaced

It's the untracable problems that can make you insane.

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave
So happy for you, Ghost, that you got it working. I dont believe that I got any screws with the Crest, which surprised me. There was a self adhesive pad in the lid, however, that keeps the drives in place. So I just used that one. Now I am worried that I need to get some screws after all. I did not get any printed instructions either. Nor any website address to go to.

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave
I thought these things (the blades) needed a heatsink? If so could you post a pic or two of it and how it looks inside the Mac's card cage?

I have no idea what kind of 24/7/365 100% stress test Apple has performed when they have found so much heat generated from ssd that they think heatsink is needed. After my hardest and longest stress test I can think of, opening the case and touching the ssd it is only lukewarm. I think memory runs hotter.

Re: NVMe upgrade for Mac Pro 4.1/5.1 Mojave
The pads are heat sink pads with adhesive on them. There is one on the Crest processor too. I know it is obvious, but be sure to pull the blue film off.
