Default May ditch the 002r... Need advise

I upgraded to PT 10 an have it all up and running with my 002r.
I was considering getting a replacement unit for the 002r - firewire or usb devise.
I've done some searches, and am suprised at how little I am finding in terms of replacement ideas.
Are any of you using hardware that you think would be a cut above the 002r that you could tell me about?
I just want to get some replacement ideas.

I like the M-Audio Profire 2626, but there are plenty of great options out there. The above post lists some great ones.

I think the RME Fireface UFX should be mentioned here.

Take a look at the Motu 828 mk3 hybrid. One rack space, 28 ins, great converters, adat smux (for 18 channels at 96 khz), on board dsp chip with reverb eq compression and la 2a type leveler emulation, good software and zero latency monitoring possible. Definitely an upgrade from the 002

I just spent the last ten days playing with my new vrm box and AKG 702 headphones. Unfortunately I had to use my digi 002R instead of my Safire 56. The more I use the digi the more I hate. I need to sell it or through it away. Wile it was good in the day, it just seems so handicapp compared to the 56. The more I use the 56, the more I love it. It is really cool with the VRM box. My advice is get the 56. The liquid pres make the mics shine. I don't own any of the hardware equals but who cares. The other pres are nice also. Real clean very little color. Makes each instrument sound like the instrument itself.

The mix control software is very good once you understand it. Small learning curve there. Very verseatile piece or gear. You can get 26 ins with two light pipes and using the spdif. So get a couple of focus rite octepres and your two favorite pres with converters and you are tracking 26 inputs like the big boys. Well maybe the smaller of the big boys.

If you're on a mac I can highly recommend Metric Halo boxes. The 2882 is closest to a 002r as far as I/O. But there are options an they're all great.

More to the point. What features do you need and what's your budget?
