massive digital glitchy noise on newly recorded audio? (sample included)
I'm on a PT9 LE machine - WIN7 64bit - DIGI-002 running all approved drives, chips, hardware, etc.. but one consistent prob is after anywhere between 15-45 mins of a session open, it'll go from perfectly recording audio as it should to then instead recording a horrible glitchy digital noice on any and all new recorded audio from that point on.. (only rebooting fixes this.)
I thought it might be a bad drive, but I've since tried 3 different drives and it does it on all of them to my surprise! Anyone else heard of this problem? I'd love to know how to fix it. Sample of the noise it's giving me is here: http://www.awritersparadise.com/pt9glitch.mp3 (this is what it does to a perfectly clean bass tone!) It does this to all audio recorded, ..vocals, etc.. thanks S |

Re: massive digital glitchy noise on newly recorded audio? (sample included)
Could be a clock issue.

most likely a faulty driver for your hardware. Had that happened a lot on my fast track usb in the past. Unplugging the hardware replugging it helped, but it was really a driver problem.

Re: massive digital glitchy noise on newly recorded audio? (sample included)
it's a known bug in 9.0.something (clocking indeed). There's a workaround: in setup->hardware, change optical format (adat -> spdif and back, or other way round), even when working with internal clocking. that should do. There are other threads about this issue.

Re: massive digital glitchy noise on newly recorded audio? (sample included)
ps: Avid should (maybe) add this to the 'Pro Tools 9 Technical FAQ - Solutions to common problems' sticky until it's fixed.
