Has this worked (except as noted) for you? I'm always reluctant to try these over the counter online fixes, having been totally fried by a similar thing from many years ago on another app.

Thanks...

Now that I'm on hiatus and since I rolled my MPro rig back to 10.10 it seems 12.5 may be OK to try? However since this is my PostPro rig where I don't see a need for the collab thing, and I've heard that AVE is not improved after all, could someone tell me any benefits I would miss staying on 12.4?

It seems odd that this is a Win only bug since it's been a long, long time since we've seen OS related issues in PT releases. Ironically I always test new versions on a second Win7 clone drive to flush out issues, so in this case of the W7 fail I went no further.

Just a quick followup:

Trashing all prefs, etc…didn't have much effect on a 10.8.5 system operating on 24/96K projects, at least not below 128 samples…if anything, the 9173 errors came in faster. Nothing but Avid audio plugs, and very few of those.

15 track projects brought the system down, even with the system meter showing 13-14% usage….the same project in 10 showed no signs of stress or complaints at the lowest buffer setting.

Not yet…no time to be finding the magic number. Latest 11 works sometimes, 12.5 always an adventure, but 10 remains a workhorse.

Just gonna go with that for now. Fairly certain it will all get sorted, and when it does, I'll commit to the change. Right now, time is the one commodity I just don't have.

But thanks, Tom…appreciate your chiming in!

I fully understand Ken. Getting our work done is a first priority.

12.4 is doing it for me, so I thought I'd mention it.

If 10 is working, don't fix it.

I had some drive indexing happening with back blaze. That was my glitchy midi tracking issue.

But there is a bit of lag in the gui on el capitan. Its working though.

Got a new setup on the way. Should give me a good boost in performance on the hackintosh.

I ran Mavs 10.9 for awhile and I still have it on my MacBook Pro so I can run PT10 HD (which won't run on any OS above that). Mavs is fine in my experience, but I just decided to try Yo on one of my MacPro clone SSDs and it's been fine esp compared to El Cap. No hurry to upgrade if you like Mavs, I never had any issues with it.

12.5 on El Capitan is only 50% stable, some avid & 3rd party plugins create laggy meters and parameters, my system: 12 processor Mid 2010 Mac Pro El Capitan.

As far as I'm conerned, 12.5 is not compatible with El Capitan.
