Newbie 001 owner seeks advice from those in the know...

Hi.
Just bought an 001 for my film projects, only to find that the 001 is about to be discontinued...
Oh well, I did get it cheap, and I need it NOW.
Talked to Digidesign guys at a trade show in London last week and was told my PT5.3.1 on XP wouldn't support a Quicktime window. Was rather (!) pissed off, till I got home...
Also didn't get 5.1.1 for Win98 install disk (I have dual boot). Apparently have to download it from the site - only 98 Mbytes! Anyway Turnkey, my suppliers, are now doing that for me. good guy Matt there.
Question here is:
Anyone recommend any freebie, or cheap, downloads for my PTLE 5.3.1 running on XP with a Korg 5XD plugged in?
Or anything that costs money that I really SHOULD have for film work?
I will export my sessions for final mix at a professional London post facility (any recommendations? It's a 35mm short, and I'm based in London).

Sounds like someone gave you some bad info (as it seems you have discovered.) You can run a quicktime movie.

You may want to look at Avid/Digi's Mojo when it comes out as well as the DV Toolkit, but IMO, the biggest thing that will help you will be Pro Tools 6.X when it comes out (command focus, TCE tool, etc.)
