Default The most realistic sounds?

Hi all,

I'm tired of the sounds of my old gear.

I'm looking for very realistic strings sounds.
Both software and hardware are ok.

Any suggestions?
What are you guys using?
(I've got Reason. )

Thanks!

I agree on the Miroslav library; I use his string samples almost exclusively if I want more "realistic" sounding parts. For analog string sounds; I really like the Oasys and the Cheese Machine VST-i (I think it is?).

Hey guys.
The only thing for the PC to do in the studio that I work in (other than office chores...): Gigasampler w/ the Garritan (Gary Garritan) Orchestral Strings. Superphat, very realistic, extremely well recorded, sampled string library.
Recorded at Lincoln Center for the Perfoming Arts, with Gaglianos, Stradivarii, and other multi-million dollar instruments. And no I don't work for Garritan (or Tascam) either. But I have to use it (a lot)...as close as you'll come to the real thing...Most likely better than you'd be able to achieve in your own studio (unless you have the world-class players and their world-class instruments, not to mention the Lincoln Center's acoustics regularly at your disposal)... BTW, I'm most definitely a Mac-head, but I must be honest: Nothing on the Mac, even comes close to touching this sampler! Not yet, anyway...

..Philthy and Valvebrother, I think we were typing at the same time, but I do concur: The Miroslav Vitous library is nice, too...

Sorry. I know this is too stupid, but can anyone
tell me how to use the Miroslav Vitous orchestral library? I'm not into the sampler world yet. I was mentally a old guy.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Arial">EXS24 for Logic works the same way (reads samples directly from HD).

On my Kurzweil 2500X I can get an insanely realistic cello. It's # 116 if nobody has messed around with the programs. I'm sure the Kurzweil 2600 has it as well. It's called solo cello and it is so authentic. The strings on the Kurzweil are really authentic sounding as well.
