Guitar Amp Opinions Needed
Hello. I'm looking for a good all-in-one type of guitar amp to do small live gigs with and practice with.
My main amp is a Marshall TSL with a GSP2101 racked up & it is great. But, I don't like taking it out unless I'm doing a bigger venue... I have an Art Rules Breaker that I bought for an all-in-one type of amp and it sounds great, but it's to heavy ( yep - another old guy with a toasted back )so I'm going to sell it. I was thinking of getting a Line 6 Flex Tone 2, or one of those new Vox amps that model and have the built in effects. I'm looking for something under $1,000 I like the Line 6 Vetta, but I don't need something that intense - I'll use the Marshall when things are intense. I'm looking for the next best thing to the Vetta in a combo amp. Any thoughts??? Thanks a lot, Carl |

Re: Guitar Amp Opinions Needed
what kind of music do you play? I really like the tone of the peavy classic 30 - probably $500, and its portable too. my crate VC5115 has great tone as well. Both amps are loud enough for rock in small clubs.

Finalcut,
I'm not sure what kind of music you will be playing or what you are really after. However, like you, I have gotten tired of lugging around the big amps ('83 Marshall 2205 half stack and a '69 Fender Twin among others). I bought a Fender Blues jr. and use a Marshall Guv'nor in front and am very happy with it. It is a lot louder than you might think for a 15 watt amp and the EL84 power tubes overdrive nicely. The tone controls are so interactive that it takes some time to set up the tone properly (for me anyway). A small gig bag over the shoulder, the amp in my left hand and my guitar in my right hand and I'm on my way. Look around, there is a out out there. If you really want light and portable, look into a Behringer V-Amp2 ($119US) and go straight into the board with it. Greg

Well I would have to say that the Line6 Flextone II is a great amp....Just bought one today and it has a great tone and is not heavy at all...Good Luck and Happy New Year.
Take Care, Tracy Lowery

Yeah, the Line 6 Spyder and Flextone are both surprisingly light... but I'd definitely prefer the increasede flexibility (no pun intended) of the Flextone. I did play with the Vox a bit a couple of months back and was pretty impressed with it.

Re: Guitar Amp Opinions Needed
If you like the Vetta (which rocks by the way), you would probably love the Duoverb. This is basically a stripped down Vetta that really is like using a traditional combo amp, but is using the Vetta technology. I thought this was under $1,000 but it's actually over by a few undred.... but sounds KILLER. Here's the link on the Line6 website. This was one of the best products at the 2002 Summer NAMM show IMHO.
http://www.line6.com/Duoverb/features.htm Another good amp for the money which is REALLY affordable is the Fender Cyber Deluxe... it's about $700 and very lightweight. I forget the watts on it, but it's quickly becoming a favorite for gigging musicians with small rigs. |

Re: Guitar Amp Opinions Needed
This is exactly the kind of info I'm looking for. Thanks a lot! A couple of you asked what style of music I play - I should have put that in my first post. I play anything from Blues to Hard Rock, to heavy modern - depending on what's called for...
Thanks a lot. So far the response is great. I'm leaning towards the Flex Tone 2, but still looking at other options. Happy new year by the way! Carl Funny! I hope I'm not in this classification!!! Re: Guitar Amp Opinions Needed
I use a Carvin Bellair 212 with a Digitech 2120 Artist and am very pleased. The amp is VERY LOUD. And it's very light and portable. I put it in the front seat of my truck and take it everywhere. Practice and gigs and friends houses. Very sturdy.
