Default 002 Version 1 or 002r w/Digital Mixer HELP???

Ok folks,

I have around $4000.00 that I just found in an old stash place of mine around the house, like $3700.00 American, + change! I also have been thinking of making myself a little studio to write music in my den. What would you do, buy the 002r, with a digital mixer like the Yamaha 01v•24/96 or the 002 mixer all in one. Or would you buy some other combo I am not thinking of, that gets good bang for the buck. 001 with a more beefy mixer. I would welcome any ideas or suggestions. Thanks good buddies, give me a holler back with a 20 on that gear pkg., that's a big 10-4.

Regards

e

Depends, really. If you plan on using ProTools only, I would go for the 002. You'll get better integration with the control surface. If, however, you plan on using other apps such as reason, or another daw like logic, I say get a 3rd party control surface. that way you'll be able to use it with more than just ProTools.

Of course I should add that I too am in the market for a control surface, so I can't speak from experience.

Thanks for the reply, I guess the question really is; s there a control surface/digital mixer that kicks the 002 out of the running with dsp features and flexability Vs. just going for the quick integration issue.

So what is the best digital mixer/control surface in the two to three thousand dollar price range???

Anyone.... Bueller, Bueller, Bueller??? "Ah, Mister editor, Ferris is sick, his best friends mothers, girl friend's daughter saw him pass out at 31 flavores last night... he needs a new Kidney or something guess its serious.... Thanks Samone." No Problem, Fry, Fry, Fry, Fry????

Regards

Still wondering what digital mixer is king of the hill these days, with PTle systems. I am looking for a digital mixer that also acts as a control surface.

Regards

check out that command 8 that digi just announced recently. i have a 002R and i think i may go for that. the regular 002 is pretty nice, but so pricey...this method seems a bit more reasonable to me.

I would buy the 002R and the control8 that way if you upgraded to a TDM system later you still could use your control8.
