Default OSX 10.9 clean install

I want to move to Mavericks now that I'm only running PT11HD.

Is it safe?

How do I do a clean install? I can only get it from the app store, right?

Thanks.

Boe

Some will say to "start from scratch" and do a full install. I spoken to lots of people and the more geeky they are and educated about apple OS, the more it seems all you need to do is run the install just like it does from the update center. Follow the prompts. I did this with both of my MBP's and have nothing but success.

Trying to reinstall PT11HD, but there is no installer to make it "clean". Just moving of an app and trashing prefs. Hm - will try that...

I don't see this behaviour on OSX 10.9.2 & PT 11.1.2 HD

So for troubleshooting, try to remove all non-Avid (blue) interfaces from the system first, then bounce ten secs and try if it plays back.

If not, remove UAD from the equation, then bounce ten secs and try if it plays back.

If not, move all 3rd party plugins to unused folder, then bounce ten secs and try if it plays back.

If something makes it happen, you know where your problem is. If not, I suggest you drop the PT10/11 coinstall. Create two partitions, one with PT10 and another with PT11. While it's PITA to re-install everything from the scratch *twice* I think it's well worth it. And please do install Mavericks for PT11.

Thanks for quick reply. I will try that.

I don't have any other interfaces than Digi.

Strangely this version of PT11 worked fine on OSX 10.8.5

To remove UAD do I take the card out and take the plugs out of the folder, or just plugs?

I don't need PT10 anymore (I hope...) - how do I unintall that?

Thanks.

I mean those blue ones (192 analog, 192 digital, 96 normal, 96i) are Digidesign interfaces which PT11 considers unsupported and untested 3rd party interfaces.

Those purple Avid-branded HD interfaces (your 16x16) are the current, tested, and supported interfaces.

There may be a difference.
