Unwanted noises ..
Digi 001
XProject 9GB External Hard Drive Mac G4 OS 9 Alesis Midiverb First noise is the XProject Drive "spinning". That [bleep] gets on my nerves. It comes through my monitors and I don't see a way around it. It used to get recorded onto my tracks somehow but I fixed it (don't know how). Anyway to make it so that it doesn't come through my monitors? Second noise comes from the Alesis Midiverb. When I create an Aux Track and assign the input to Analog 5 - 6 (Midiverb is coming in through channels 5 - 6) I get this humming noise that changes depending on the preset effect on the Midiverb. Obviously it's the different effects signals or whatever, but this was never audible to me up until recently. Any help on this one? Thanks |

Re: Unwanted noises ..
Try moving the drive to a different location, and routing the cable differently.
Midiverbs are norotiously noisy. Get better quality reverb unit, preferably one with spdif i/o. |

What's a good intermediate (price and quality wise) Effects Unit to get?

Re: Unwanted noises ..
I'd start by looking at/listening to Lexicon's MPX line of effects processors.

Re: Unwanted noises ..
I connected my T.C. Electronic M300 via the analog I/Os and got humming too. I switched it for a Lexicon MPX 500 and I still get humming.
Anybody ever figure out what causes this? I'm using balanced Monster cables for the I/Os. This is on my Dig 002, btw, not a Digi 001. And once I turn off my Lexicon the humming stops, so it only happens when I attach an outboard reverb. |
