Default Used MacDrive to transfer files... DAW f**ked now

Hey there.
I have a PC with two boot partitions: 1 for music only (no internet); 1 for everything else.

I needed to transfer my sample library from my old Mac (OS 9) to my new PC DAW. So I downloaded a demo of MacDrive to my "everything else" partition, and used it to transfer my samples to my DAW partition.

Now, I can boot into the "everything else" partition, but trying to boot the DAW partition causes errors. Specifically, when windows kicks in, it says it has to check the C: drive (the everything else partition) for file consistency, and then it just re-starts windows over and over without ever making it through.

I've tried system restore.
I've deleted all the Mac files from the PC, defragged.
All to no avail.

HELP!

Any tips/advice?

Tom.

Sounds like a disk issue.. I've used MacDrive5 for years without incident.. I think it's coincidence. Reinstall XP or restore from a recent backup.

I agree with Rail, MacDrive has worked flawless over the years for me too.
The only thing I would bring into question would be 2 partitions (on one drive?) -versus a SEPARATE drive for your audio -along with a separate system drive- (safer configuration- unless that's what you have... then you have issues as Rail described).

I hope things can be repaired.

Correct, partitioning a drive isn't going to help much for audio.. you need to run the audio off a physically separate drive.

i do have a separate drive for audio.

the partion is on the system drive so i have dual boot -- one boot for DAW, one for "everything else".

i'm in the process of reformatting the DAW partition and having to reinstall all my software. a major pain in the a**.

i'll always transfer files from Mac to PC via DVDs or CDs from now on... och!

cheers,

tom.

As I said before, this is unlikely caused by MacDrive -- I'd suggest you purchase Ghost for backups in the future.

I'd also recommend transfering sessions to DVD for transfer to Macs. Much easier and less cumbersome. Won't be long and there will be USB keys out that will store 10GB. 1GB size are out now.
