PT 9.0.5 with Lion - unable to open other MIDI apps open as standalone
PT 9.0.5 with Lion and having these SW open as STANDALONE:
(Garage Band, Audio MIDI Setup AMS, Sibelius, Logic) NONE of these applications will open unless I connect to my DIGI 002R AND a Pro Tools session is open. Otherwise it gets stuck when trying to open those apps. I do not think thats' the way it's supposed to be. Somewhere there might some sort of preference which overides ProTools' priority on this matter. Each Application' individual message: 1 - AMS : "Audio MIDI setup couldn't open the MIDI server so you can't view or edit your MIDI configurations. If you recently installed a new MIDI driver, try uninstalling it and then open Audio MIDI setup again. If Audio MIDI setup works correctly after that, contact the driver's manufacture for further support" 2 - Logic : stuck on "checking MIDI drivers" ; "MAC OS X MIDI Services not available" is displayed when the Logic finally opens it. 3 - Main Stage 2 : stuck on "initializing MIDI" . "Unable to launch the MIDI Service" 4 - Sibelius 6 : "Error initialising OS X MIDI system" 5 - Garage Band : It actually opens !!! "core audio", "aggregate", "audio devices", "MIDI Server" and "audio engine" are related to this issue. Will look for those on existing documentation that came with the SW Any help is appreciated, though MacBook Pro, DIGI 002R |

Re: PT 9.0.5 with Lion - unable to open other MIDI apps open as standalone
Look in the General Troubleshooting thread and trash the specific Core Audio and MIDI preference files indicated in that thread, then restart and test again.

Re: PT 9.0.5 with Lion - unable to open other MIDI apps open as standalone
Hi, thanks for your reply!!
I believe you're refering to the link General Troubleshooting - Pro Tools LE Mac , since that's the closest match to my system. As suggested there, I should delete these files and restart the system: * com.digidesign.CoreAudioManager.plis * com.apple.audio.AudioMIDISetup.plis * com.apple.midi.a bunch of numbers and letters.plist' * com.apple.audio.audiomidisetup.plist However: a) I cannot locate the 2 pathes suggested ("Mac HD > Users > (Your User Name) > Library > Preferences" and "MacHD>Users>your account>Library>Preferences>By Host") b) I do find some "com.digidesign" and "com.apple" files at "Mac HD > Library > Preferences" but, still, cannot find ANY of the files suggested to be trashed. Thanks!!! Mac OS X Lion 10.7.1 |

Please remember I have already dowloaded and installed a month ago the following drivers as recommended by Avid (MIDI has been working fine on Pro Tools sessions by the way) a) DigiDioMidiDriver.plugin Fix v9.0 for 003 and 002 Family b) MIDI I/O driver for Mac (v90_69602) c) 002 and 003 family Drivers v9.0 |

Re: PT 9.0.5 with Lion - unable to open other MIDI apps open as standalone
I'm having the same problem. If you delete "DigiDioMidiDriver.plugin" from HD>Library>Audio>MIDI Drivers everything works fine, except that you lose your interfaces MIDI I/O. (The library folder is hidden, so you have to go to Finder alt+click the "go" menu, and choose the library folder from there.)
I'm really irritated by this since I use both Sibelius and Pro Tools throughout the day and I need my Digi002's MIDI ports operational because I control my guitar rig with Pro Tools. The "DigiDioMidiDriver.plugin Fix v9.0 (Mac) for 003 and 002 Family [0.23 MB]" doesn't solve anything. It just writes the same "DigiDioMidiDriver.plugin"-file back to where it was and messes up the MIDI-functionality. Anybody know about a solution? |

Re: PT 9.0.5 with Lion - unable to open other MIDI apps open as standalone
Hello,
I just spent close to 2 hours on the phone with Avid Audio technical support about this issue, and will be speaking with a senior representative again on Friday. I will post any information I receive that is relevant to fixing the issue at hand. Thanks, Zach |

Re: PT 9.0.5 with Lion - unable to open other MIDI apps open as standalone
I know it has been awhile, but after speaking with a senior technical support representative for nearly 3 hours a couple of weeks ago, we were still unable to resolve the problem with the DigiDioMidiDriver crashing every other application that accesses MIDI (including Audio/MIDI Setup). His only other suggestion was for me to wipe my computer clean and reinstall everything from the ground up, which is what I have done.
Nonetheless, after reinstalling the latest versions of everything and checking on their official compatibility status, I regret to inform you that the DigiDioMidiDriver still causes every other application to crash. Below is a list of applications I have had crash with this driver installed: Audio/MIDI Setup Live 8.2.7 Logic 9.1.6 Reason 5.0 Has anyone else had any luck with resolving this problem? Thanks, Zach |
