MIDI Looping Issue - First Notes Dissapear
This has been an ongoing issue and it really slows me down. Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.
Here's what happens: I create a MIDI loop, usually drums. Sometimes it's played "live" then quantized, sometimes I draw in each note. When I go to copy the loop region the first notes at the beginning of the loop are missing from the new, copied loop. When I redraw the first notes at the beginning of the new region, then copy again...missing notes. This happens no matter what method I use - Option+Drag, Cmd+D or cut and paste. Also - the first notes AFTER the loop sometimes get added to the copied region. Here's a video of what's happening: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5985662/LoopProblem.mov As you can see at :31 the new note that I've created is clearly "in the loop" and should be copied. |

Re: MIDI Looping Issue - First Notes Dissapear
This is still an ongoing issue apparently.
What I find is that if I go back to "notes" view, there is a little piece of that first note starting before the grid, and if you put the cursor on the grid it doesn't select the whole note, because of that extra piece. When you copy and paste, you're only getting the other 3 notes. Zoom in really close and see if that's the case. You can also lasso around the notes and they should copy. If not, there's another problem. Hard to tell in the video unless you zoom in a lot closer.

Re: MIDI Looping Issue - First Notes Dissapear
Thanks!
I zoomed in super tight and I can see exactly that. Even when I quantize the notes are a little, tiny bit off the grid. Also, when I create a new note it puts it right on the grid - but if try and adjust it then it goes off the grid. It's a small enough value that it doesn't impact the timing and you can't see it until you zoom wayyyy in. But it's enough to mess with my ability to loop MIDI regions. This seems like kind of a big deal. Does everyone who loops MIDI regions just put up with this? Or am I missing some kind of fix here? |

Re: MIDI Looping Issue - First Notes Dissapear
Getting back to a few old threads with some possibly helpful info.
In this case, make sure your timeline is set to bars/beats. That should resolve the issue. |
