Default TDM to Native HOW MUCH?!?!?!! !! FOR LESS?!?!?!?

might be out of line here but imo TDM seems superior to native and to upgrade you have to pay like $1500!!!

seems like going the opposite way here. costs to downgrade and loose.

i do not see any advantage to the native cards besides being able to be used with any DAW.

to me native HD seems like a glorified soundblaster card that can connect to some nice 192. , but loosing TDM AND paying for it seems like a shiiiiiiiiiiiity deal to me

Today's State-of-the-Art is tomorrow's trash.

'Twas ever thus.

No.

Take a breath.

You can currently get $1595 OFF the price of PT HD Native bundle (software & PCIe Native card) with a trade-in of your registered TDM system. Doesn't matter if you're on PCIx or nubus PT 3! If you're on a 1 or 2 card TDM system, it's a significant upgrade in track count & plug-in count. The HD Native rig = a 3 card HD accel system in power, and in some ways, better. It sounds better, if that matters, especially with the new omni/HD interfaces. But then I'm drinking the koolaid as we speak - from a 6 card accel to a Native rig was a fair swap for mixing.

It's only $350 to upgrade from 8HD to 9HD, if software is all you need.

How is that? AFAIK HD Native has just dsp for one low latency mix and thats it, no more DSP. I can do 10 stereo monitor mixes from my HD3 system and still have one stereo main mix available, and I can run plugins the same time and also have the computer running at like 3%

its for any TDM. which the older the better i guess :)

im in the bind that i have an old g5 2.5 with pcix cards and i want to get a 1st gen mac pro for about $1000 or so.

there is no upgrade for pcix to pcie and

i think the HD native with 1st gen mac pro defenitly will not give me more power than HD2.

I just dumped macs for HD and put my HDPCIX cards in a PC I ordered to be built to my specs and I'm glad I did so. PT is PT no matter if you are on mac or pc.

There is no upgrade path from the current PCIe line of HD hardware to HD Native. However, it does seem that TDM development is ceasing with some plugin manufacturers. I probably mentioned this in another thread, but Softube is one of those companies. If you own the the TDM version of the PE1C or the FET compressor, the version you have is likely the last.
