Smack TDM randomly fails to pass audio

We've just realized that smack TDM v8.0 has been opening in our mix sessions without passing audio. This has meant that our parallel drum bus has been off and on causing massive confusion and frustration during recalls until we finally realized it was happening. We're really lost on how to prevent this error; the best we've come up with is a sticky note on the monitor reminding us to check it.

Are you using DSP cache?

Try turning it off, then clear it or reboot, and see what happens.

Turning DSP caching off/clearing cache does not resolve the issue.

Same thing happens to me with Ampeg SVX occasionally. I find that moving the plug-in to different slots while audio is playing can sometimes get it working again. But yeah, frustrating.

Wondering if you're running out of PCI Bandwidth, and need to increase the DSP:Voice ratio in your Playback engine ?

Been doing this since before 8.x. Dunno what the cause is, but the fix is make it inactive (control+apple click the plug), then again to awaken it. Consistent fix, but inconsistently buggy from session to session. The 1176 BF plug used to do this in 5.1.x too.

This is really annoying. I won't use Smack TDM any more, unless this gets fixed. It's too dangerous to accidentally miss "waking up" a Smack on a mix recall.

Another quick fix is to adjust the input on the plugin. I agree, this is NOT a viable long term fix. This is my favorite go to compressor. I hope there is some progress on this soon.
