Default Vienna Symphonic Library - Anything similar? Composers help!

Hows it going. Wow Vienna's Symphonic Library sounds great, any second opinions for composing libraries?

Anything cheaper out there as professional? I'm a student and it's still very pricey.

Also I wish to compose in Protools LE 6.9, is this possible? I don't want to use Logic or other software, can I use Vienna or any other libraries in Protools?

So yeah any recommendations on libraries would be great for composing scores for feature films. For dramatic contemporary, and possibly action films.

Any libraries out there for good sound fx, explosions, folly, etc, I do not want to use soundtrack at all, that is too amateurish.

Thanks.

Eastwest's Silver/Gold/Platium is great and cheap.

I think Synful Orchestra sounds pretty darned amazing, especially given the fact that it's a fraction of VSL's price.

Consider yourself lucky... You can pick up this whole collection for what I paid for one of these items 2 years ago:

EastWest Quantum Leap can be perfectly convincing if you take the time to program it carefully. Amazing sounds. Maybe not as many articulations and instruments as Vienna though, although the Platinum version of EastWest is pretty well stacked.

Everyone beat me to all the of East West stuff. I'm a huge fan of their libraries. I would assume they would still work in LE 6.9.

Additionally, for some action and modern film scores you might want to look into Stylus RMX to make some cinematic eletronic percussion grooves and such.

Foley stuff? Check out Ultimate Sound bank Extreme FX. Looks cool. Good for the money too.

Hope that helps,

NIKO
