The pre-amp has to have a S/PDIF output in order to bypass the Digi pres and converters. The Mbox does have a S/PDIF input that makes this possible. I have always fantasized about the Apogee Mini-Me.

If you don't use want to have the signal converted to digital first, you can also connect the mic preamp's analog outputs to the Mbox 2's "line in" inputs. These inputs do not have mic preamps so you effectively bypass any the M-Box 2's mic preamps.
