Default MTRX spec for Atmos

I'm building out a 7.1.4 Atmos setup around the full MTRX

I'm thinking:

-2 Pristine 8 DA cards to feed the 12 speakers

-SPQ card for calibration

-DAD MOM for Controller

-64 Dante Module: to get other studio sources into and out of the system - including 12 channels of an Atmos Theater Processor to monitor Atmos OTT content from Amazon, Netflix, etc in the studio. Also to connect a Dante Headphone Amp.

Would an Analog to Dante converter like the Tascam ML-16D or Focusrite AR16 be sufficient to pull all that audio into MTRX over the Dante Module?

I will be using Native DAPS for now - will upgrade to external RMU in the future.

Am I missing anything?

Default Re: MTRX spec for Atmos

Greetings,

MTRX outfitted with 2x DA cards + SPQ will certainly allow you to create a tuned 7.1.4 Atmos monitoring system. If you will be transitioning in the future to a dedicated renderer, it may be worth also adding the (inexpensive) MADI module - assuming a MADI based RMU will be leveraged: 9900-71258-00. If Dante, then you could certainly add a Dante-128 card down the road.

The ML-16D supports 24-bit 96k operation allowing you to convert up to 16 analog input sources to Dante -> to patch into your MTRX via the Dante-64 daughterboard.

Dante headphone amps could be KLANG, AM2, HEAR, or other.

I would recommend following the Audinate recommendations regarding the network components you choose for your IP Audio network.

https://www.audinate.com/support/networks-and-switches

Audinate specifically recommends the SG350 line of managed switches from Cisco.

best,

Jeff
