You'd need a synch box like a MOTU Digital Time Piece which can chase LTC and derive an SPDIF clock.

you'd probably also need the DV Toolkit in order to display/work in timecode and feet/frames within ProTools LE.

The DV toolkit will make it possible to see the timecode in the counter. Normally you will not need this...

you will definately need DVD tool kit if you are going to use frames, ie:29.97 drop/non-drop, with out DVD tool kit, the time code is as follows, hour:minutes:seconds:mili seconds, so if you want to move something over 2 frams, that would be 29.97 divided by 1000 (milliseconds)which is like moving it something like 66.88 millisconds, VERY annoying and difficult

as far as time code lock up, you might want to check out Mark of the Unicorn "Unitor 8"
it will take smpte t/c and convert it to midi in which you can take into PTLE.

The Unitor 8 would only give you location (MTC) but no speed (SPDIF).. it's not a choice for chasing an analog 2". That's why I recommended the DTP which has the right capability.
