24 bit Session Transfer to DAT...
Hi,
Apologies if the question seems somwwhat beginner...but can i transfer straight to DAT from a 24 bit seesion without bouncing to disk..? Would it make a difference if i were to place a dither plugin on the master fader ? Your help would be much appreciated... |

Yes you just hook up an AES output from PT to an AES input of your dat player (or spdif to spdif). Yes a dither down to 16 bit on the master fader is the way to go. Also, bounce one after without the dither, then you have a 24 bit 'saftey' copy in your computer!

If your DAT recorder is 24 bit (you'd know if you had one), don't dither. Set it to record at 24 bit. If it's a standard 16 bit DAT recorder, then always dither to 16.
