Older mbox2 mini drivers. Compatibility

I'm trying to see if I can get my 2nd(?)gen mbox2 mini working with my new win8.1 computer. I had hoped to be able to use PT8 but that does not seem possible, so I had hoped I could at least use the interface. But I twice try to load driver which worked but when I plugged in the mbox, shortly afterwards the computer crashed. This is the only time the BSOD has occurred so I don't think it is a coincidence. Has anyone been able to use an older mbox2 with win8.1?

I know this is old H/W and software but I had hoped that at least the H/W would still be usable and I would only need to upgrade or get new DAW but now I am not sure and I think only the experts here will be able to answer that question .

This is the link for the latest Mbox2 drivers, unfortunately none are available for Windows 8. The Mbox 2 line should be supported until 2015, but I have not heard confirmation of updated drivers: http://avid.force.com/pkb/KB_Render_...EA0&lang=en_US

I've asked for an update on this.
