Default DSP Mode Vs Native Mode

Has anyone noticed how other tracks go off timing when DSP mode is enabled?

every time I press record, the stacked vocals go off time. Is there a reason or a way to fix this? I only notice it happening on DSP mode. When I go back to native mode, everything is still on time.

it just would be nice to be able to listen to everything in sweet harmony.

Humm don't know if this will be much help but....I have not noticed that (I have not really tried multi back ground vocals) I assume that's what you mean by "stacked" ... But I have not noticed any off time with say a couple of audio guitar tracks then hit record for a vocal ??????

To clarify do you have those vocal tracks in DSP also, or perhaps in Native with Native only plugins on them ? And do you have Automatic Delay Compensation , active ?

The only track that is DSP enabled is the one I am ready to record on. They are also on a bus to my effects channel. I just disabled delay compensation, things get worst with delay compensation disabled. Do you think it's possible that my product may be defective?

I also notice that while I'm able to monitor my mic without pro tools, I can only hear my Roland FA 06 through my Digital Audio Workstation. The Carbon is set to the proper channel, input and volume--still, no sound unless I'm on a DAW. I ask because If I use the Apollo Twin X mk2 quad, it'll let me hear what I am playing whether I am on or NOT on Pro Tools. There Is signal, I can see the notes from the instrument input on the Carbon channel but no sound is coming out of my monitors.

Hi Rey,

For the “off time” issue, will you install 2021.6 (released today) to see if that fixes it?

For the monitoring issue, Carbon doesn’t have software like the Console application that Apollo has for standalone monitoring. To monitor an input you need to use a DAW like Pro Tools, Logic, Reaper, etc.

If you have different processing on your stacks of vocals that will do it. Delay compensation is *not* active on DSP plugins on record enabled/input monitored tracks. By design.

For example, if you set up two tracks to input 1 and put an AVID DSP plugin on one (10 samples) and a Plugin-Alliance plugin on the other (34 samples) you'll get crazy comb filtering.

Solution is doing just like Apollo Console or old TDM days — same plugin across each channel of phase critical sources.

The benefit of doing it this way is you could have 2.5 extra ms of latency on a guitar input (3 PA plugins), where the 3-4ms won't be noticeable, and it won't stop the vocal input with AVID channel strip from still only being 1ms latency.

Just disable auto low latency on the track (blue mode)

I was able to fix the problem. I turned off delay compensation and everything sounds much better. Thanks.

?? Care to expand? That sounds the opposite of what I'd expect.

Yeah, this sounds like a trippy problem. Why would low latency mode need to be off ??
Thanks y’all
