Default PT9.0.6 thinks its uninstalled!

Hello All,

For some reason, PT now thinks it is uninstalled or either another program is controlling it.

Any ideas how and why this happens? I am running W7 64 with SP1 installed and using LYNX AES16e audio interface.

Suggestions please.

Thanks,
William

What's the exact error message you're getting?

'ProTools hardware is either not installed or used by another program.' No error code number.

Do you have another program opened at the same time as Pro Tools, such as iTunes?

No, not opened, but installed.

Will, check the general troubleshooting guide at the top of the ProTools 9 section

I was looking through there yesterday for some of my own issues and I'm positive I saw two threads of the same exact issue you were having.

At least they were two threads describing the same problem about hardware in use by another program, or what ever it was

Check it out

4. When you do solve the issue, take an Acronis image. Take another Acronis Image every time you make a change to your C drive, like installing something or tweaking something:

While this all may seem like a lot of fussing around, the good news is that you will eventually fix your rig and be good to go.

Hope this helps !!!

Great ideas - you might want to go into msconfig and disable all background programs and reboot. Could be one of those causing the conflict.
