PLEASE tell me if my PC is compatible with PT8

Well, right off the bat, one hard drive won't be sufficient. You need a totally separate, dedicated audio drive.
PT8 and Athlons? Majority opinion is you're MUCH better off with a Intel Quad.

Do you have IE8 installed? If so, uninstall it. Instructions on how to do that in the stickies above. Also instructions in the General Troubleshooting thread above on how to post a Sandra report. It has all the information needed.
