Peak problem
Hi,
I'm importing audio (wav, reference material converted with itunes) in to a session and it shows alot of peaking (red light illuminated) goin on. It should not, right? What am I doing wrong? Itunes can't convert properly? I use a Mac Pro, HD1 accel, osx 1.5.4. Thanks. |

Ok, but I thought that this was a major no-no in the world of pro-audio, I mean to do it deliberately. Does a lot of engineers do this? I for one would NOT!

I think that PT goes into the red slightly before you reach 0 dbfs, maybe as and extra warning. DTS can you confirm this

Re: Peak problem
If there is peaking in the original session then when you import them, it will show red in the meters for every channel that has peaked at one time or another. As already stated, that's not a problem if you are not distorting but it might be better to record your original tracks a little softer as they will sum anyway and plug-ins will increase gain on whatever channels you feel need a little bump.
