Default Keyboard Shortcuts-Apple Thin Keyboard

Hello All: Last night I installed my new THIN keyboard to my PowerMac G5 Dual 2.0 (non-Intel). Of course, lots of my keyboard shortcuts no longer work. For example: Smart Tool does not work using F6F7, only using Command 7. There are some others as well. I tried going into Preferences of my Mac etc. to no avail.

Has anyone successfully created custom key commands with the new THIN Apple Keyboard? I would GREATLY appreciate any assistance.

There is a software update for the aluminum keyboards, but I'm not sure which OS version it applies to. Take a look on the Apple site in downloads...

My MacPro didn't come with the aluminum keyboard, but I got one last Christmas and it works fine.. I did install the update. f6-f7 turns on the smart tool, etc..

I believe you do need to turn off the default way the "fn" key works...

In other words, I had to set mine so that if I want to adjust the volume using f11-f12, I need to hold down the fn key. By default, I think the keyboard is set as if "fn" is always on... If you catch my drift...

The option is in System Preferences>Keyboard&Mouse> Keyboard tab>"Use all f1 f2 etc keys as standard function keys"

I also turned off the expose and dashboard shortcuts for keys f9-f12...

FLOMMER!!!!!!!!!!!! You fixed me UP. Now that I think way back to when I started ProTools, I had to put a CHECK mark on the "Use all F1-F2..."

Thanks so much! I absolutely love this thin keyboard...my regular one just became too clunky and I had to press the keys so far compared to this one!

OK, I'm fired up now!

Thanks again Flommer!

Hey no problem..

I really like the thin keyboard too..

Only problem is that I'm wearing out the ASDW keys playing WOW.. Not the keys themselves, but the lettering. Gonna need a new one in the next year sometime.. I wore out the old white plastic one too... Maybe there's a trend here
