There is also Analog Chanal from McDsp who make an excellant job recreating analog circuits in differents "flavors"... Very affordable. I use them like an EQ most of the time. With the " Us tube" emulation you gain mids, with "japan" mid high etc etc.. It also sort of compress in the manner of an analog tape: its all about saturation!

You can find the Reel Tape Saturation iLok asset on eBay for less than $100 with the $25 transfer included.

It is not a tube saturation, but may give you the desired effect at a relative bargain price.

Also, a lot of the emulators are reproducing the analog sound of solid-state consoles. Warm isn't always in the components, but in the design of the circuit.

Thank you all for the qualified infos!
I tried the SATV demo and liked it. Slate VCC looks very cool, but is twice the price tag. So I think I will get a SATV licence. I would prefer if it was authorized via ilok though...

Besides the tape saturation algos already mentioned there's a new one for $9.99 as an intro offer:

http://www.sknote.it/Roundtone.htm

It's really good and will even get better in the next update. Wraps perfectly with Fxpansion's vst rtas wrapper.

More props to Massey Tapehead. I use it liberally, and works on pretty much anything.
