Default Anyone using a Lynx Aurora 16 with PT9?

Pretty sure i'm going to pick up a aurora 16-VT and regular PT9
Was thinking about HDN, but with the different price point, I think i'll buy a UAD2 quad instead.

Any thoughts?

If you don't use a HDNative or a HD Card, the Aurora will work as a standalone ADDA convertor anyway...unless you plan to add the LT-Firewire expansion, and use it an ASIO or Core Audio interface, which takes a bit more of research.

I'm pretty sure you'd need the LT-FW card anyway, just wondering if anyone is using it with PT9 and if it's working nicely.

You only need the LT-FW card if you want to use it as a Firewire interface. There are plenty of other ways to use it as a stand-alone converter.

So would I be better off using:

Aurora 16 w/LT-FW
or
Aurora 16 w/AES16e card

If I use the LT-FW card, it's cheaper, I can eventually daisy chain another Aurora 16 to it for 32 i/o on a single FW port on my computer.

What are advantages of using the AES16e card?

Last year i had tried that combination:Aurora and AES16e,and never figured out the AES16e routing, also found it to be not so user friendlyand quite buggy in terms of drivers.
So i swapped the AES for a RME AES32 and everything is fine since then.
(That was on a Dual Boot(OSX/XP) MacPro system running Nuendo.

Re the LTFW and the ability to sidechain an extra Aurora or a 3rd Party FW
Interface-imho-you should check with Lynx support is this configuration is stable enough,or you may need to add a FW Host Controller Card for obtaining additional bandwitdth and streaminng via FW.

thanks for your help, I'll look into it.

Would ultimately have two Aurora 16,s together, using just their analog i/o with the FW connection to PT.

Will shoot Lynx an email and see what they say.

looks like this answers my question actually

http://www.lynxstudio.com/nav/getFil...8&t=newsletter

"Pro Tools 9 will function with Aurora converters using LT-FW for OSX (Mac). At this time Pro Tools 9 will not function with Aurora / LT-FW for ASIO / Windows."

maybe the LT-USB will be the answer for W7 users

http://www.lynxstudio.com/product_detail.asp?i=58

16 i/o @ 96kHz
8 i/o @ 192kHz
says it works with all windows drivers.

I really want to bail on USB2.0 but, has always given me the [bleep][bleep][bleep][bleep]s!
But this could be ok, just wondering if you could connect two Aurora's and get 23i/o?

And other things like USB bus jitter

anyone in the same boat here?
