Two machines i had, both broke...

For small studios, cool for the price, for professional stuff, i'd stay away.

Only my opinion.

I've heard more bad news than good ones about behringer. Of course, some Behringer FX units are on eBay for cheaper than a rack plate... so that can look nice.

And you can get the "Truth" monitors for $400 (new) now.....I'm just not even sure they're worth that money from what I've read (never heard them).

I had ... OK, I have, some of their compressors. They work fine. And for drums, especially limiting, I actually liked them. There I said it.

This was before 24 bit, great affordable outboard converters blah blah blah, so maybe it wasn't as critical. And I'm not from a wealthy family, so they were the right price.

Thats good news for me. I really liked the Truth monitors.

I've got an ultragain tube pre and it sounds just fine...for what I'm doing. Plus I've never tried anything really good so I have nothing to base this on, Just that it got me in the "warmer" ball park for very little money.

I have 2 peices of Behringer equipment....DSP1024 efx unit and the Ultra Gain PRO 2 channel tube mic pre.
The dsp1024 is a decent unit for a mere $150.
It has quite a few effects, reverbs, delays,
flange, tremolo, gates...your standard fair.
Its interface sux, you need to keep an enclosed parameter sheet handy or you will have no idea what the hell you are adjusting, no input or output trim, all balanced TRS and XLR. Its ok, like i said $150, its worth that much...24 bit too.
The Ultra Gain Pro i purchased for $126...its decent too, not the 1st pre i reach for...but i need lots of pres as i track live bands. Its pretty staight forward, not much color at all, its not noisy, Lots of headroom and a nice eq section, w/ a adjustable HP filter, phantom pwr, no pad!?!
Its no too bad for the cash. Notice that these are NOT glowing endorsements....
I do not beleive that there is a big difference between the cheap stuff and their high dollar stuff...besides the price
If you are interested go to Guitar center and listen to the stuff first, and buy it from there, cause you can return/exchange it too.

Not wanting to annoy anyone, but in my opinion Behringer is a name that came up alot when I started homerecording on a 8 track Fostex back in the 18th century!. Also I heard their gear is rather faulty from the get-go. Better save up some cash and buy good gear. It´s a money saver, ´cause you will be using it for many years.
Greetings,
George

We have two of their stereo compressors, that mostly gather dust.
Wanna buy em?
