Default Trouble Setting up Midi

Just got the PT Mbox setup and installed everything.
I am able to hear the LE demo song that comes with it so
I think all audio stuff is working OK.

I am unable to get PT to recognize any midi input.
The manual is not very helpful with getting midi
connections working.

All midi stuff worked fine in Logic 6

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have:

Panther 10.3.3
G4 768mb of RAM
Pro Tools LE 6.2.3
Mbox (Connected directly to USB)

m-audio midi connector 2x2 (connected to USB hub)

Welcome to the DUC. This is an excellent place to start. Chapter 13 is on MIDI recording and should give you some insight. Good luck.

1. Have you created a studio setup in the Audio Midi set up application? If not, the application is located in the Utilities folder.

2. Certain USB hubs are known to have issues with midi interfaces when used with PT. Make sure it is compatible by checking the compatibility documents at the Digidesign support section of their site.

3. After checking the above and you are sure all your software & hardware is compatible (including third party applications that may be running in the background). Open a session and go to -> Midi Menu -> Input Devices - and make sure that you check off the appropriate boxes.

4. Go HERE for additional trouble-shooting.

Found this quote on the Digidesign Answer Base:

"Mbox is designed to work on a single, dedicated USB port build into your computer. We do not support its use on any hubs, adapters, expansion cards, or the USB port on the side of your USB keyboard"

Hey,

Thanks for helping out. I have looked through the Reference guide
and what I have not figured out is whether there is:

1. A problem with OSX seeing the m-audio midi interface
2. Whether there is a problem with my midi setup inside of
Panther.
3. If there is a midi setup problem inside of PT.

There doesn't seem to be a problem with the Mbox
audio.

It is connected directly to a USB port on the computer, not a
port on the hub and seems to be working fine.

I will try to connect the midi interface directly to a
USB port and see if that helps.

THanks

Hey,

In the Audio Midi setup application I have 3 things.
The m-audio 2x2 icon
the icon for the Apple IAC Driver
An icon with a ? mark on it that says it is "Digidesign" in the info panel.

Am I missing something in here?

Thanks

Hi,
Seems like I have a similar kind of problem.
I-book 600 MHz, Dual USB, firewire, 640RAM, Digirack 002, Panther 10.3.3 and Pro Tools 6.4
Can't get midi signal in my software. Keyboard connected into the interface, Audio Midi Setup OK, tested - works. DIGI 002 also blinks (gets signal from the keyboard, but Pro Tools MIDI track won't respond. I already checked the Input device, also activated Record button.
What am I missing?
Any help appreciated.

Thanks Everybody.

Raul

I also am having exactly the same problem. I started a couple of threads but they didn't go anywhere.

Having followed all the instructions for setups, the only thing left is for PT to do what it's supposed to, which it does not.

and what's up with AMS continually detecting an extra input device? I wire up my novation and get that set up on the screen, only to have a new [?] device appear when i check back.

I'm sure many of us would appreciate some feedback from digi about this. Who else has this problem?
