Default Plugin Chain Presets

I thought I remember hearing awhile back something about Pro Tools adding support for saving plugin chains as you can do in Logic and other DAWs.

I haven't had a need for it until now. Is there a way (other than making a template session with various chains and importing session data) to save a chain of plugins on a Pro Tools audio track and/or master fader?

For example, let's say I have a chain of 3 or 4 plugins I like as a starting point for a certain task.

Can I load them all up in one command or do I have to insert them one at a time?

Thanks. Is there a way to just save a chain though, so it doesn't have to exist in a another session?

I suppose I could just keep dummy session for grabbing preset chains from but the way Logic does it is pretty ideal.

Thanks but since you can't import session data from a session in use, I can't imagine a way to do what I'm looking to do.

Save a chain of plugins and apply to another track, or copy a chain of plugins and paste to another track.

There is a hack for changing your presets in the New Track dialogue. It's on Pro Tools Expert but first appeared here at the DUC. Like Amagras said, use your imagination. Why not create blank sessions specifically for channel Strips. I always use that. Templates are best for starting a project but you can have on session with fx tracks of any kind and you can import any combination of tracks. There are also many other things you can import. There's a couple of moves but you can get it done, and you pick what you need.
Make sure you default all the inputs and outputs in the I/O page so you don't have aliases or just pick non italicized outputs.

You can't import data from a session that's been used but you can do it from its latest backup save found inside the session folder

Here's a video showing how to set up the new tracks dialogue.

And here's a thread.

How would you guys go about this I've recorded 10 tracks for a band and its consists of around 60 tracks (15-20 just for the drums) I've mixed one of the songs and it sounds great what's the best way to import all the plugin data to the same corresponding tracks eg Guitars, Bass, Drums etc I've always saved the settings in the plugin menu with the bands name first but this seems a long winded way round it. Thanks in advance
