Default RX2 spectral repair tip

I might be the only one here unaware of this feature, but maybe not, so here goes:

If you right click on the spectrogram you get an option to adjust the spectrogram settings. Very useful to try to separate background noise from what you are trying to repair.

Sort of like adjusting contrast on an image.

Very useful for finding small whines and buzzes.

In addition to right clicking to invoke the settings panel, RX2 Advanced has a settings button on the spectrogram window. I use the settings control panel all the time to better locate the signals I'm trying to reduce, which can vary considerably in nature even within the same 10 sec window. When using Rx audiosuite within Pro Tools, the settings control panel always opens on top of the main control panel, which I find irritating. I don't know if there's a way around that. I wish the settings controls were simply a part of the main control panel, always visible for quick adjustments.

is there a way to see a moving playhead in the spectograph when using as audiosuite? Extremely annoying to have to guess if that blip is the sound you are hearing because you cant see where the cursor/playhead is

Being able to scrub in the spectrograph would be the greatest gift ever.

Wow, I can't believe I never thought of right-clicking the spectrum before! This is great, thanks!

I'm not sure if this will be helpful to anyone, but my typical process with RX is to do all the repairs and fixing in the RX app before using the audio files in Pro Tools, as the controls in the app are really useful and it's easier (and quicker, to me) to do them there.

If I know the audio files will need clean up before I even get into the session, I'll just go through them all and do it prior to using the session, relinking once I open the session as needed.

If I don't know that they will beforehand I'll just make a log of each file and time where they'll need cleanup, do what I can in the session, then go back and clean them all up in one go and, again, relinking as needed once that's done and I reopen the session.

My (hopefully useful) 2¢.

Indeed. I asked that and "free form selector" from iZotope when RX was first released. Let's hope it's coming!
