Default Need Help Please

I am borrowing a ibook 500mhz g3 currently. I'm a windows user so I don't know alot about macs. Anyway I'm trying to install the core audio driver on it because I want to run some tracks with ableton 4 using my 002r. I don't have enough ram to install protools, only 128mb. I just want to install the core audio by it's self. The problem is, everytime I try to run the installer it goes through the motions of installing and then after the installer finishes a message pops up that says "an error occured that kept the installation from completing" I have downloaded the core audio installer 3 different times and still the same thing. Also I tried to install a later version of stuffit and got another error message. Is there something messed up on this thing that's keeping installs from completing? I just reinstalled osx 10.3 on here and got the latest updates from apples site as well, including the osx update, also repaired disk permissions. Any ideas whats going wrong?
