Default Newbie awaiting new iMac -- with System 10.4.10!

Hi All,

I'm a brand-new Pro Tools customer (LE 7.3-whatever's newest with an 003 Rack) just started up on a later-model iMac on 10.4.9; worked fine -- but we just exchanged it for the new iMac, expected any day -- which runs 10.4.10, I just discovered, and CANNOT be downgraded.

I've read posts here that by running the combo update and installing a prebinding dmg app, 10.4.10 CAN work fine -- but I've also read some dire tales that scare me.

So I'd be much obliged to hear any info y'all could offer, especially any specific experience or advice about when and how to do that installing Pro Tools onto a new iMac right outa the box.

I'm trying to decide if I should cancel the new iMac order and pay $100 more to get a 20" older-model iMac just because it's running 10.4.9 -- but the new iMacs are much cheaper, look SO COOL and are apparently much better machines all around...

Any idea on when Digidesign will be compatible with 10.4.10 -- surely there must be a zillion new iMac customers gnashing their teeth over their Pro Tools, just like me.

Thanks very much for any guidance/opinions you may offer... I'm at sea here and appreciate it greatly.

I wouldn't worry, as long as the OS is there first you shouldn't have a problem, it's when you update the OS over the existing PT version that things normally go pear.

Cheers

No problems here either. You might want to install the combo that digidesign recomends, also be sure to get 2gb of ram on your new imac, it makes a HUGE difference in PT's. You don't want all those buffer errors that people continously post about.
Peace
