Default CPU error blues.....

Long time PT user since version 7.0 here. Over the past 2 months I have been trying to fix my new set up and my fussy PT cpu errors. The cpu is always between 2-8 percent why I am tracking. PT seems to through lots of CPU errors why I am recording or playing sessions. Its seems to happen most when I am at a 64 buffer but also occasionally happens at 128. I usually only track with reverb or ezdrummer. Funny thing is I can load a heavy mix session and playback with cpu no errors. My older macbook pro from 2008 had no problems with the PT9 and tracking errors so I know something is a miss. Changing number of cores and % seems to not help the errors.

I have went through my system and done all the tweaks to my mac, spotlight, wifi, , plug-ins, TM, etc.... All my hard drives have plenty of space. Now before I totally delete my system and start with a fresh OSX I wanted to see if anyone had any idea's. I have a feeling ML 10.8 is the source of my woes, but I am stuck with it. Below is my system and details. I did migrate from a TM backup, but I did a clean install/uninstall of pro tools 10 from 9. Originally I had PT9 on the mac mini and the errors started, so I upgraded to 10 and the errors still appeared with all versions of 10.

Mac Mini 2.3ghz 16gb ram
OSX ML 10.8.2
Audio drives = 2 external FW800 glyph gt050q
Pro tools 10.3.4 (set to 99% 6 out of 8 cores)
apogee ensemble

Thanks Craig that looks promising, I am going to give this a shot and see how it works before I wipe my system.
