Pro Tools crash after second bounce
Hi,
I've been running Pro Tools (first 9 and now 10) on Windows 7 for over a year now with never an issue or a crash, on two different computers. Now I have a session that I've been working on, and it crashes reproducibly after the second bounce (i.e. bounce first time, no problems. bounce second time, crash in the middle of the bounce process). The crash gives the "access violation, unable to read location xxx" message. I've tried re-installing Pro Tools and trashing the preferences. I originally had some Strike and Structure tracks in the session. I re-installed those plugins from scratch after reinstalling PT. I have deleted those tracks from the session and now only have audio, which has not helped. Probably unrelated but in case it gives someone any ideas - I had automated Strike to change speed to double-time for a short section in the middle of the song. This was working initially, but not long before I started getting this issue, the speed was not changing to double-time reproducibly upon bounce. Which is why I had been bouncing twice, to try to get a bounce where the change worked properly. I tried other sessions and so far this is the only one that has this issue. Any ideas? Sandra report follows. I'm using a digi 003 as interface. Thanks so much in advance, hopefully someone can lead me in the right direction. Re: Pro Tools crash after second bounce
So this crash on second bounce happens only with this session right ?
Can you try to create a new session --> import session data from the suspicious one --> try again. Still happening ? |

Re: Pro Tools crash after second bounce
Yes, only that one session (I've tested a few others to make sure). Thanks for the advice I will try that when I get back tonight.

Re: Pro Tools crash after second bounce
ok well I tried to re-import session data into a new session (first time I do this so hopefully I didn't forget something obvious, but it seems to have worked). Same problem occuring part-way through the second bounce, except this time the error message says "Access Error - No RTTI Data!"
Any ideas? Really bad timing for this to happen, leaving for a week tomorrow and needed to get this mix done... |

Re: Pro Tools crash after second bounce
I'm guessing no one has any further ideas, but in case it helps, it always crashes at the exact same timestamp the second time I bounce (3:14 minutes left).

Re: Pro Tools crash after second bounce
just thinking out loud here.
So a quick resume : (correct me if I'm wrong) - Issue only happens with this particular session - Import session data into new session issue follows the new session. My suggestion at this point is to try narrow it down something like this. Not sure how many track you have so taking the example of 16 tracks : Scenario 1 : - first 8 tracks imported into new session including your master - bounce twice Does it still happen - tracks 9 to 16 including master in yet another new session Does it still happen Hopefully already at this point you have narrowed down the issue to either the first set of 8 or second set of 8 From that point onwards it is an elimination process. Scenario 2 : - import all tracks into new session but without plugins / automation - Bounce does it happen ... if no start adding plugins etc ... pretty easy to do from that point with import session data menu through match tracks feature and add data to import I still think something is causing this in your session. Can be a specific plugin or audio file or whatever ... only way is to isolate the bad boy and hopefully fix or find a solution for it. |
