Eleven mkII CPU insanity
I have a new system running PT 23.3.0 Ultimate on a brand new Mac Mini M2 Pro (12 core with 32 gb) on Ventura. I'm running PT under rosetta because I have a D-Command that Avid has decided to orphan.
Overall I'm super impressed with this install. Everything is very stable and a huge leap forward in power from my old 6 core, 2012 cheesegrater 5.1. But...a single, mono instance of Eleven mkII is using roughly 30% according to the PT system usage monitor. By comparison, Ozone 10 with a look ahead maximizer uses about 2-3%. I don't recall exactly what Eleven mk1 used on my old 6 core 5.1 Mac Pro was, but I know it was nowhere close to this on an 11 year old CPU. Can anyone else confirm similar CPU usage for Eleven mkII or is this just my system? Last edited by zakco; 05-15-2023 at 05:44 PM. |

Re: Eleven mkII CPU insanity
Hmmm, I would try some other amp sims. It could be that Eleven isn't happy with Rosetta. Maybe demo either IK's Amplitube, or Helix Native?

So far this is the only plugin that is showing unreasonable CPU usage. I'm sure there are other great options, but I have many many sessions I'll need to recall and using a different amp sim is not an option at this point...Thanks for your reply though. Anyone else notice this? |

Re: Eleven mkII CPU insanity
I am running Protools on an M1 MacMini in Native mode and see no high usage for the Eleven Plug-in. It does however eat up an entire HDX chip when switched to DSP mode on my Carbon!

Re: Eleven mkII CPU insanity
So I opened Protools in Rosetta mode and still don't see the high CPU that you seem to get. Single Eleven MKII nets about 2% on the CPU of my M1 MacMini

Re: Eleven mkII CPU insanity
I see a spike when I instantiate it or when I change amp models (the newer ones MS-30, RB-1 seem to be more demanding) but it often ramps down after a few seconds.

Re: Eleven mkII CPU insanity
I agree. Eleven MkII playing nicely and not hogging CPU cycles.
Running PT 22.9.0.112 with macOS Monterey 12.6.5 (21G531) on the M1 mini here. Stephen
