Default Control 24 pres on a par with soundcraft Ghost?

I was wondering if the control 24 pres are at least on a par with something Like the Soundcraft Ghost or Mackie 8 buss range.?

I did a test Last night, comparing the mike pres, in the control 24, to the mike pres on the 002R. They sound the same.

Yeh thats pretty much what I found out and also that they are at least equal in qaulity to something like the soundcraft ghost and mackie 8 buss desks. Okay for less critical stuff but I probably wont use them unless I have to.

Actually I have found after using all kinds of mic pres that the ones in the C24 lack headroom compared to many other low priced preamps; although I still think they are OK. For example, the PreSonus M-80 eight channel rackmount pre can take a much hotter signal, go into the red on the pre, and still not distort or get "frumpy" I have compared these silver series pres with everything from Manley pres to Neve, Soundcraft, Allen Heath (Yeech!) ART (Great) and many others. I still will use them and the C24 pres do sound good, but my simple advice and experience is "be careful how you handle them." They are not as forgiving as some others, hence you better hope that your musicians on the other end of the pre have good musicianship skills.
