Which one are you referring to?
The current ones (DuoModo) have it too. All of the thunderbolt 3 ones do. For the DuoModo, the switch is on the left side when looking from the rear. They even cut a hole in the interior module wall on the left so you can toggle the switch without removing the cards. (switch should be toggled towards the rear of the chassis for PCIe 2.0 for HDX cards)

Ah yes, so it is.
Mine must have been factory set like that.
My bad.

Thanks.

Interesting, I just received the Echo I today and there is no switch, I guess I'll discover if it works properly as soon as the new computer arrives. It does say Avid approved on the website so I'd guess it should.

I was also thinking an NVME drive would be a good upgrade, but I‘m new to them and about what setup works well. I’ve seen some of the threads about problems with chassis’s and nvme drives so I was hoping some feedback and guidance figuring out what works well and keeping a streamlined setup. With these new machines it seems your desktop can become covered in perhipherals pretty quickly. Many thanks in advance!
Hey There,
You sound like me this time last year.

If you do go with NVMe, and what to mount on a PCI card, do not mount that card in the same chassis, and same TB port as your HDX card/ chassis.

Sonnet discovered this causes all kinds of PT/ HDX issues.

I created a separate post about this issue.

best of luck with your move,

I have the Avid Rack Chassis for my HDX and it's the loudest single item in my room. I'm looking to replace this fan with a quieter one, ASAP.

Default PCIe chassis and NVME recommendations for HDX and M2

I just wanted to report back, I have the duomodo rack, Echo 1 PCIe chassis with the xmac mini enclosure all setup and running smoothly. 2 non-RAID NVME drives in the front of the xmac chassis on a separate TB port are nice and fast. It didn’t seem to have any benefit to run them in RAID because there are only space for 2 drives. One is for recording and one is for daily backups. So far it seems like a huge improvement over the old system. Oh and it’s super quiet…unless the HDX fan kicks on.

The NVMe SSD storage in the front of those macMini enclosures is a nice thing.

I'd like to consolidate the multiple desktop Sonnet enclosures I have into one or two Duo Chassis in a rack. Maybe with longer optical Thunderbolt cables, we'll see....

I’ve been using 2 different sonnet chassis for HDX and UAD2 cards. But the whole thunderbolt dock mess with adaptors and cables running everywhere stresses me out after using Mac Pro style machines for 20+ years:
But with the announcement of the new M2 Mac Pro, I’m gonna hold my breath a little and wait for them to be officially supported by avid etc
