Default Digi 003 reset firmware

Hello

It appears my digi 003 firmware is corrupt. The symptoms are as follows:

1. The faders are not working properly. In a pro tools session they ‘snap’ to a very low level once touched.
2. In utility mode everything seems to work correctly except in Group mode they only go up to 34 (not 1023) and if you take one all the way up they all register 34 and just come off 0 (ie 34). Touch mode they just drop to 34.
3. Also Triangle mode does not have the faders moving in a triangle

Other than that everything seems to work well. All buttons and panning seem all good.

Firmware details are as follows:
Boot 56A8 – b7.3.0.116
System 4FA8 – v8.0.0.314
Fader v8.0.0.314
Hardware 00.32

I load pro tools 8 onto my computer (PC windows 10) and updated the firmware. It now wont give me an option to do any further updating.

Does anyone have any idea if you can reset the firmware once it is up to date?

Thanks

Craig

You will need to start with a newer version of Pro Tools. 12.5 is the oldest that is compatible with Windows 10.

Thanks. I have version 2019.12.0 of Pro tools. But that does not update the firmware at all.

I am pretty sure it is a firmware issue as the problem occurs in the utility mode.

Aha! Given the age of the unit, I'd consider this might be an excuse to buy a newer interface(I've had 1 controller and 3 rack units in my PT history). Lots of great(and likely better) sounding options out there, depending on your budget.

THanks. There is not much out that has motorised faders for Pro tools that is not expensive. I really think this should be an easy firmware reset. I am just not sure you can wipe it and start again.

Yes, I have done that. I updated the firmware when I loaded pro tools 8 but since that update it doesnt update any more. And that didnt fix it. So I dont need an update, I need a reset I think. Updating it has not addressed the issue.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions to date. It is not looking good I am afraid. I guess this is the challenge of keeping old equipment going. It is a real pity as it is a great piece of equipment.

Once again, if you are trying to do this with LE8 on Windows 10, that's probably the issue. As for budget 8-fader controllers, check out a used Presonus Faderport8 or a Behringer X-Touch

Thanks again for your help. Speaking with the local Avid reseller we think it is likely to be a hardware issue with the fader board. Looking at getting it replaced in the medium term.

In the short term I will get a tablet and use pro control.
