Default plugin compensation phenomenon

Well I tried an experiment. I normally post to DV25 quicktimes. The movies contain timecode reader display and begins with 2 seconds of black at 00:58:59:00 29.97DF. My Dialogue track has 12048 samples of plugin delay. So mathematically all I should have to do is move my audio region on that track 12048 samples and I'm back in sync with the video. This is usually the case and I don't have any problems. This time I used an 8bit uncompressed quicktime which ended up being 75 Gigs.
When working with the video and the dialogue track only, everthing was fine. when I started activating other tracks that were also using plugins the dialogue started to slip. By the time I was finished mixing the project the dialogue track needed 13 frames of compensation instead of the typical 8 frames or 12048 samples. What was interesting was that the performance overall was not much different than using a DV25 codec. Any thoughts or comments?

Hey Digi,
Thanks for the quick response.
I am using PT 7.3.1cs6-HD3 Accel
MAC Dual 2.5 PowerPC - 4gigs RAM - OSX 10.4.7
Quicktime 7.1.2
The quicktime movie was 8bit 4:2:2 using FCP and Kona Card.
The session is for surround using only 17 mono tracks @ 48khz.
Playback engine is set to 64 voices across 2dsps (of which only 23 are being used) with no delay comp engaged.

If you need any more ifo let me know.
