Default Should mixer/edit groups still work if tracks are hidden?

Hey all, i'm not sure if this is pilot error, design, or a bug.

I have all my individual drum tracks routed through an aux called 'DRUMS'.

I have created a mixer group, with all the individual drum tracks & the aux together, but it is purely a 'mute group'

It functions as expected when i can see all the tracks on screen. Mute/solo one track, the rest follow, unless i use CTRL as a modifier.

However, when i hide the individual drum tracks, leaving just the DRUMS aux visible onscreen, pressing SOLO on the aux gives me silence.

It appears that the hidden, individual drum tracks do not get solo'd too

Can anyone shed any light on this? Getting this to work, forms quite a big part of my mixing strategy with my newly aquired procontrol.

thanks
xx

Hi,

Yes the hidden track don't solo! the mute and everything else follows the group!
This may be to stop people getting confused about what they're hearing if they can't see any tracks that are playing etc.

No pref to activate as far as i know.

Chris

No way ! Wow

Well, there's my grand idea f***ed, for creating show/hide memory locations, with just my subgroups for easy mixing.

That seems totally crazy, i though that the whole concept of show/hide, was that the tracks were hidden, but they still funcioned as normal?

what a drag....any workarounds spring to mind? It would be so great if this worked with a big control surface.

Thanks for replying anyway Chris !

OK, i have a fix of sorts..

Usually if i subgroup drums using an Aux, i have the aux in 'always Soloed' mode (Apple - Solo) , so that when soloing the kick for instance, the Aux that it is running through stays soloed.

With a Procontrol, the trick is to have all the individual Drum tracks in 'always soloed' mode, but not the Drum Aux.

Mute works on the individual tracks expected, but to solo the kick in this mode, i have to actually mute the other individual tracks instead.

However, when i hide all the individual drum tracks, showing only my Drum-Aux fader, Mute & solo work on the DRUMS Aux as i wish.
