Fast Track Pro / M-powered 8 / no input signal

Hey everybody,
I hope somebody can give me some advice.

System is Win XP, SP3, Pentium 4 (3.2 GHz), IBM machine thinkcentre 8113.
I have installed the newest driver for the fast track pro and it is also "connected". The sample rate is set to 48kHz. Besides this I have an onboard sound card and a terratec 88MD pci card installed.

My M-powered 8 together with the fast track pro doesn´t work: I don´t get any input signal. Furthermore pro tools is not shutting down smoothly when exiting the program. As soon as I switch off the fast track pro interface then the program shuts down.

What´s strange: using my guitar rig 3 standalone interface the fast track pro is working fine (although I had to change the driver from "ASIO digdesign driver" to "M-AUDIO USB ASIO", which at least makes sense). It also works fine with my ASUS Laptop on Vista.

And the best: yesterday it worked and I swear I haven´t changed anything by myself.

I also checked the win default sound card and set it to the onboard card (as described in this forum somewhere), but that doesn´t make it run.

What´s the problem and how can I fix it? Thanks for help
