Default What DAW is as good as Pro Tools 12?

Because spending the last hour to an hour and a half uninstalling and reinstalling, as well as rebooting my computer, to get the iLok License Manager to work (but still won't work) is quite frankly, unacceptable. And this same License Manager has pulled this stunt on me three previous times now. In addition, the lag doesn't allow me to get any work done (up to forty seconds for a dialog box to close). At this point, the software is so uncooperative, its hard to say when it will, and won't work.

So, to reelevate my blood pressure, and actually get some work done, what DAW would you recommend is as good as Pro Tools 12, and is more stable. This has certainly made me think the attractiveness behind Pro Tools is more hype if anything, than convenience or features.

They all have different strengths/weaknesses. Reaper runs just fine here though and seems to have less weaknesses than most.

Sorry you're having so much trouble with it, but bear in mind, there's a LOT of us on here using PT 12 on a daily basis to earn our living, and clearly, if it just didn't work in general, we would have found an alternative by now. I'd be real curious to see DETAILED system specs...there's clearly a configuration issue of some sort going on. I'm running 12.4 HD on Win 10....last new build was August 2016...up and running from ground zero in a very long two days. Can you post your system details, and maybe we can help figure out where the incompatibility is? PT is indeed a very finicky DAW, but again, a lot of us count on it on a daily basis.

Try all, the first to install is the best!

Digital Performer.

As good as PT on many levels (not all), and light years better when it comes to MIDI, and no iLok crap, no "plan"...

Underground,

I know that you think the world is stacked against you and that Pro Tools is at fault, but to those of us with experience, yours clearly is an operator error. We laughingly call it an ID 10t error. Just relax and let these guys help you. Post some system specs. You probably just haven't placed your authorization on the iLok correctly. You are not the only one to make these mistakes. It's a part of the learning process. So take a deep breath, cooperate, and things will get better.

Steve

PT 12.4 works like a dream everytime on all our computers (MAC)

Thats what we use to make a great living and starting to learn a new DAW seem timeconsuming so try 12.4 and if that doesn't work then look elsewhere.

However if these versions doesn't work something is seriously up with your computer, not Pro Tools itself. Sorry but that's a fact to consider.
