Default having mixrack and still using C Layer

I have the mixrack with profile. I always thought I was limited
to just using the A and B layers for faders since the mixrack is only 48 mic inputs.
I accidentally discovered I can move channels on to the C layer.
this is great. I have all my playback devices on the C layer.
I'm not using more channels but I have it spread out a little nicer now.

I feel stupid not know this but I'm pretty I was told I couldn't use the c layer. thought I should post it in case someone else needed to know this.

so now i have instruments on A vocals on B and playback on C.

sweet!

Rob,

While I'm on a D-Show surface, I believe that this just became available for the Mixrack with the last software rev. While you only have 48 inputs you have access to 64 "input" channels. If you move to a system with an FOH rack, you'll have access to up to 96 "input" channels. It allow for channel multing for monitor setups from FOH and other situations where you need flexibility.

You could always spread channels over A/B/C/D on a mix rack. But you could only have 48 faders/channels. The new software lets you have 64 faders/channels again over A/B/C/D which is great for vocal splits for monitors.

Cheers

Lionel

I did the same with my Dshow, it's just a single stage rack with 48 inputs but if you go to options > systems > edit you can cheat it by selecting 64 channels and enabling 2nd stage rack and selecting the 49-96 input.
I will put things below there that don't need regular attention and they dont have to be at the end of the console like the old analog days.

I don't imagine it matters either way, but you don't need to enable the 2nd stage rack, it will allow you to configure 64 channels regardless.
