Default M-Powered on Cube with faster processor?

Have any of you run M-Audio's Project Mix I/O on a Cube that has had its processor upgraded? My Cube runs at 450 MHz, while the Project Mix requires at least 733 MHz and MPPT requires at least 933 MHz, so I'm contemplating getting a processor in the range of 1.5 GHz.

Thanks,
John Link

I don't think Digidesign supports G4 cpu upgrades. Besides, even if they were supported the only one worth getting would have been the dual 1.6 for $699.00. For that money you might as well get a new mini/refurbished G5 imac. Another thing you could do is wait a little longer to see what new hardware Apple introduces in January. Rumour has it the first of the Mactel iBooks will be introduced and possibly even some new Mactel Mini's.

Just my $0.02

For $400 I could get a Sonnet 1.8 GHz processor. http://www.sonnettech.com/product/encore_stg4.html Has anyone had any experience trying to run M-Powered Pro Tools on an upgraded Cube?

Greetings,

M-Audio does not support accelerator cards or processor upgrades for their hardware. It has to be a true G4 or G5 in order to work. I don't even think Apple supports those sort of upgrades either, but I know that M-Audio and DIGI both do not. Better off investing in a new machine.

I know that digi and M-Audio do not support what I want to do, but do you know that it actually won't work?

I have a question regarding the same thing...

honestly right now I can only afford a G4 with about a 533MHZ processor...

Will pro tools m-powered not work at ALL or will it just be incredibly slow??
